Northside Parkway widening may add traffic woes
Living in Buckhead is a wonderful thing– there is immediate access to the best restaurants, bars, art galleries and upscale shopping. These features bring commuters from other communities to Buckhead, too– which greatly affects street traffic. It’s likely you’ve been sitting in that gridlock at least once.
Northside Parkway especially is a point of concern for Buckhead residents. The stretch of road, which sweeps through Cobb County as well, is already a tightly fitting four lanes.
Soon, the Georgia Department of Transportation will begin construction on Northside Pkwy., widening it to a whopping six lanes. The purpose it to alleviate future traffic woes in the area. But Buckhead dwellers fear that the expansion will only bring in more commuters from Cobb County, causing congestion in the city’s neighborhoods.
The DOT says this road project has been in the works since 1987– when Atlanta traffic was much different than it is now.
